Led Zeppelin- The Rain Song
From my favorite Zeppelin album, Houses of the Holy. One of the best parts about this song, (besides the lyrics, which in my opinion are some of the best from Zeppelin’s entire song catalog) is the incredibly melodic and emotive guitar playing of Jimmy Page. A very unique tuning was used on this song (D G C G C D), and I actually took an hour or so last year and learned the whole thing. Ian Crawford from The Cab also shares my love for this song, and of course, being the shredder he is, can and has played it in its entirety on the bus.
I’ve told this story before, but why not… When I was in 8th grade, I wrote the lyrics to this song out by hand and gave it to a girl that I was crushing on, telling her it was a song by a band called Led Zeppelin, and that it was a beautiful song that reminded me of her. Apparently, the lyrics were a far cry from KC and JoJo, and she never talked to me again. Nonetheless, the song remains the same… No pun intended. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do, I recommend listening to this with a good pair of headphones, alone in your room late at night in a silent house.
