FILMS ON FRIDAY

———————

Mary and Max - Directed by Adam Elliot

The first FoF of 2012 is all about a disenfranchised little girl finding solace in, well, the most unexpected place.

One of my favorite animated features, Mary and Max (as evident by the trailer) is an amazing achievement in stop motion clay animation, and its merit doesn’t stop there.  Toni Collette and Philip Seymour Hoffman are wonderful as Mary and Max, driving the film’s dark humor and somber realism in expert fashion.

The film pushes on many close-to-the-chest pressure points, but lifts its heavy hands often enough to let the air out with some undeniable charm and quirky humor.

Anyways, enough of my wind-bagging… Let’s do that damn thing.

START TIME: 9 PM CT
