DEVOLVEMENT.

Pressed against the force-fed silhouette of our youth, too close to see what’s really been happening to you.  I’m feeling like I’ve been rinsed through and wrung out,  spread flat and hung down across a long wire to drip dry.  And while I have this time, it gets harder to remember why and what I’ve brought onto myself.

I think about where you are now, and what you last laughed about.  I think about how you’ve been since the reckless weeknight binges and runarounds.  All while I’ve been trying my best to forget everything I know I should have said…

“Take my conscience and your instincts.

Add equal parts and stir, don’t shake.

And once you’re feeling satisfied,

or convince yourself you’ve made it,

twist the cap and take a look inside.

Take a look at what you’ve created.

By the hole of your mouth, or by the whole of your head?”

TOO LATE TO KNOW, TOO SOON TO DOUBLE BACK.
